Shownotes in Full

Bradford Gibson: “Since when is not providing complete descriptions of shows or show notes acceptable?”

Beats me. I double-checked our feeds and we’re sending ‘em 100% full. Check this screen grab. It’s true that the venerable TT himself inserts a fair number of ellipses, with episode titles like “369 Listener email…” and “368 The Illusionist movie review, listener email…”, and he may re-use those titles in the description fields

Bottom line:

  • Trucker Tom sometimes uses ellipses.
  • iTunes sometimes adds ellipses.
  • PodShow doesn’t truncate descriptions in our feeds.

So Brad, what gives?

    Hello All,
I have a problem with my shownotes and maybe someone here can help. I have contacted PSsupport but with no joy so far, I know they are busy.

The problem: My shownotes became screwed up when I cut and paste some notes into the HTML editor window and and for a single-quote was included un-escaped. After I saved it once I could not edit it or anything below it. I think that the javascript block that provides the editor function blows out when it finds the single-quote.

My workaround was to delete the whole episode and reload it with shownotes excluding any single quotes, but I reset the stats when I do this which is not desirable. This problem only arose during June, previously I was able to edit shownotes that included single quotes. It surprises me that no-one else seems to be reporting this, it is my setup? I have tried windows and macs, firefox, IE and safari and it always works the same.

The same thing happened on my channels when I imported a feed that had single quotes in it.

So to conclude, my shownotes contain rubbish and I cannot do any editing on any episode earlier than the latest. HELP!

Update: 18Jul07: Well done guys. The shownotes editing is working for me now. The single-quotes are not now causing a problem. I haven’t heard what the solution was yet. Thank you for your response.
